Get your pumpkins to carve before it’s too late

Halloween is approaching, and you still need to carve a pumpkin, don’t you? In Gulf Coast Town Center stands a quaint pumpkin patch owned by Uncle Al.
Uncle Al’s Pumpkin Patch will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily until Oct. 31, to fulfill your pumpkin needs.
These pumpkins aren’t your ordinary pumpkins that rot two days after you’ve carved them. Al Mueller, owner of the pumpkin patch, provides a variety of specially grown pumpkins that are said to last longer in Florida’s humidity and heat.
To create an atmosphere that attracts all ages, bounce houses, games and an attractive atmosphere for photo opps are displayed.
Though Mueller wants to create a fun atmosphere, for him this is strictly business.
“As Gulf Coast has grown over the past five or six years, picking this venue was a no brainer,” Mueller said.
Mueller got started in this business in high school where he first sold Christmas trees. Since then, it has evolved into selling pumpkins and fireworks.
Being a resident of Lee County for the past 26 years, Mueller knows his easiest audience to attract is children and their parents, but he is glad that college students are showing an interest in his pumpkin patch as well.
Spencer Marcantonio, a freshman majoring in business, and his brother, Vince Marcantonio, a junior majoring in math, played cornhole at Uncle Al’s Pumpkin Patch just last week.
While scoping out which pumpkin to take home, Spencer Marcantonio shared his love for the fall atmosphere.
“It’s cooler, and you can just feel the difference in the air,” he said. “If you’re not buying a pumpkin, I don’t know what the hell you’re doing with your life.”
Mueller is looking for college interns, and the interns will be paid. To reach Mueller call (239) 229-6582.
