Editorial: The wall that isn’t…

The bottom line is this: every politician, especially Donald Trump himself, knows very well that rhetoric supporting the construction of a border wall between Mexico and the U.S. serves no other purpose but to act as pacifier for which their constituents can remain occupied exuding their racial, ethnic, and nationalistic prejudices. It’s the ultimate red-meat. The notion that members of Congress suddenly forgot that Mexico is our ally and major trading partner is ludicrous. Police Beat (April 8-14)

04/08/2015 10:33 p.m. UPD searched a vehicle in South Village Lot A after a sergeant observed the driver rolling a marijuana cigarette on a tray. When the officer knocked on the window, the driver passed the tray to the passenger. Upon search, marijuana was found in the center console and the floor board of the driver’s seat proved tested positive as well. 2/01/2015 12:32 a.m. A vehicle crashed into and knocked over a handicapped parking sign in South Village Garage B. The driver said that something happened to her brakes and she could not avoid the sign. The vehicle is inoperable and will be parked in this spot for a few days. The sign has been secured in the electrical room. 2/01/2015 11:36 p.m. A suspicious person was observed screaming obscenities into his phone outside of Everglades Hall. Editorial Board: 3,000 newspapers go missing on campus

Last week, almost 3,000 copies of Eagle News, apparently were stolen from newsstands around campus. Three thousand copies gone in just 12 hours. We know we’re wonderful, but please, they don’t go that fast. As journalists and as a newspaper, it’s natural for us to receive backlash and scrutiny for the things we publish. We, the editorial staff at Eagle News, are not cheerleaders. We are not only here to pump up the student body with articles about “Dunk City” and the new beautiful library lawn.
