Women’s basketball finishes long road-trip with a 94-55 win

With FGCU playing the final game of an eight-game road trip, the Eagles handed Abilene Christian their third loss of the year in a 94-55 route of the Wildcats. The Eagles’ win ends a two-game loss and finishes the longest road-trip of the season at 6-2. FGCU finished tying a program best 22 three-pointers, as they shot 48.9 from behind the arc in the win. Terrell reaches 1,000 points as FGCU dominates Webber International

After winning three straight over the weekend, the Eagles welcomed Webber International to Alico Arena and defeated the Warriors 115-61 for their sixth win of the season. Besides all the dunks FGCU had, senior Christian Terrell achieved a milestone that only five other Eagles have ever done in reaching 1,000 career points. Eagles drop second straight versus Middle Tennessee 85-72

In the first of a home and home this season with Middle Tennessee State University, the Blue Raiders dominated FGCU to extend the Eagles losing streak to two. The two teams will play in Fort Myers with FGCU hosting MTSU in 10 days. Playing in their third game in four days, the Eagles struggled mightily early but found a way to play a dominant fourth quarter, beating Sienna. China Dow led FGCU with a double-double, as she finished with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Coming off a second straight win to begin the season, the Eagles dropped their first game against Bowling Green to move to 2-1 on the season. Despite a thirteen-point lead in the first half, FGCU was outscored 43-37 in the second half and fell after Dylan Frye hit a three-pointer with .9 seconds remaining. Despite a slow start to the game, the Eagles rallied to beat FIU 88-52 in the first of eight games away from Alico Arena. In the final match of the regular season, the Eagles traveled to FAU and came away with a 3-0 to finish the regular season 8-5-3 as they get ready to play in the ASUN Tournament. The FGCU women’s soccer team scored two goals in the first half and three in the second to pick up a 5-0 win over Jacksonville, earning a spot in the ASUN Tournament. FGCU, who has won seven straight regular season championships, currently sits in a tie for first place in the ASUN standings with Lipscomb and will look to clinch it outright with a win versus the Bisons on Tuesday. “It was a great performance tonight,” head coach Jim Blankenship said. “I love the way the guys played and set the tone early. We got two phenomenal goals from Ma (Boilesen), the passing was crisp, everyone was getting in and we were able to create a lot of great chances early.
