Oil Spill On Friday, Feb. 3 at 9:21 a.m., UPD officers found that, after a vehicle had broken down, approximately two gallons of oil spilled across the floor of Garage 3. Officers referred this incident to FGCU Physical Plant as a hazardous material. Learner’s Permit On Friday, Jan. 27 at 1:27 a.m., a UPD officer pulled over a vehicle for an obstructed tag. The officer then searched the vehicle due to the strong odor of marijuana. The driver was found to only possess a learner’s permit and was issued a citation for driving without a 21 or older passenger. Catching Some Rays On Saturday, Jan. 21 at 3:56 p.m., there was a report of an alligator in front of Sugden Hall, sunbathing on the walkway. The area was canvassed by UPD, but no alligator was found. Uber Adventures On Sunday, Jan. 22 at 2:21 a.m., a driver made an illegal u-turn in the middle of the road and then drove up over a curb onto the sidewalk. Lover’s Quarrel On Sunday, Jan. 15, at 2:10 a.m., a complainant notified UPD that there was a shirtless man banging on a car window with a woman inside. The male subject reported to UPD that he and the woman had a verbal argument about who should drive. Pink Skateboard Needs Loving Home On Tuesday, Jan. 10 at 4:18 p.m., UPD officers found a pink skateboard in Garage 3. The item has yet to be claimed by its owner. Out for a Stroll On Wednesday, Jan. 11 at 10:02 a.m., a complainant called into UPD to state that there was an elderly white male walking through the bottom floor of Garage 3. Police Beat: Break in, masked men, and vaping

Locked and Loaded UPD was called out to South Village on Dec. 31 at 10:31 p.m. due to a social media post showing a student had a gun in their room. When UPD confronted the student, she stated that it was, in fact, a real loaded firearm, and it belonged to her friend that came over earlier in the evening. The owner is a correction officer with the Florida Department of Corrections, so the student didn’t know he wasn’t allowed to have the gun on campus. Bicycle Pump Predicaments On Thursday, Dec. 22 at 5:21 p.m., a complainant called UPD requesting assistance with the bicycle pump in front of McTarnaghan Hall. The complainant was unsure whether the pump was broken or if he was simply not using it correctly. A UPD officer arrived on scene to find that the air pump was missing part of its valve. Broken Vending Machine in Cohen Center On Saturday, Dec. 10 at 8:44 a.m., an FGCU bookstore employee called to report an electrical smell coming from a nearby vending machine.
