Preview: Softball vs. FSU and Canisius

The FGCU softball team will host a double-header against No. 1 Florida State and Canisius College. Games will begin Tuesday, March 14 at 6 p.m. against No. 1 FSU at the FGCU Softball Complex. Play against FSU will conclude on Wednesday, March 15 at 4:30 p.m. with a 7 p.m. game against Canisius following immediately after. The Seminoles come into this series 22-1-1 and are currently on a 13-game win streak. Canisius College comes into this game 9-18. FGCU softball goes 3-0 in midweek matchups against Holy Cross and Ball State

Following a 2-2 outing at the UCF Spring Fling Tournament, the FGCU softball team defeated Holy Cross, 12-9, and Ball State, 3-1, on Tuesday before defeating Holy Cross, 3-0, on Wednesday to move to 13-9 on the season. FGCU Softball splits at UCF Spring Fling Invite

In the UCF Spring Fling Invite opener, the FGCU women’s softball team took a 10-7 victory over Providence Friday night. A five-run second and three RBIs from both Ashley Swiderski and Racquel Fournet assisted in the win. This win also broke a three-game losing streak for the Eagles, courtesy of eight runs in the first two innings. Preview: Softball at UCF Spring Fling Tournament

After facing the UCF Knights, the FGCU softball team will head to Orlando to take part in the UCF Spring Fling Tournament. This two-day tournament includes Providence and UCF. Last season was the first time the Eagles took part in this tournament and was the first time playing UCF and only the second time playing Providence, who they played back in 2013, with the score favoring FGCU 10-2. After hosting the FGCU/Four Points by Sheraton Invitational, the FGCU softball is set to host UCF Wednesday, March 1 at 4:30 p.m. Following this home game, the Eagles will then travel to Orlando to take part in the UCF Spring Fling Tournament. The FGCU/Four Points by Sheraton Invitational got off to a strong start for the Eagles as they won three-straight games the first two days of the event. The Eagles came out victorious over Boston College 3-1 and earned a 10-2 win over Hofstra to close out the first day. FGCU started off strong Saturday morning against Rutgers, earning a 6-5 win but suffered their first loss later that day against Wisconsin, 0-6. Returning to the FGCU Softball Complex following a 1-4 outing at the Triple Crown Sports Puerto Vallarta Challenge in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, the FGCU softball team will host the FGCU/Four Points by Sheraton Invitational from Feb. 24 to 26. To begin their play at the Triple Crown Sports Puerto Vallarta Challenge, the FGCU softball team split a pair of matchups. The FGCU women’s softball team will head to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico to face several top teams in the country in the Triple Crown Sports Puerto Vallarta Challenge. This pre-season tournament brings together several of the most accomplished teams in softball. The games are set to be played at the newly redone Nancy Almaraz Stadium. Softball opens season with four dominant wins over LIU Brooklyn

Opening the 2017 campaign hosting the FGCU Kickoff Classic, the FGCU softball team went a perfect 4-0 over the weekend defeating LIU-Brooklyn 7-0 and 8-0 on Friday, Feb. 10 and 9-1 and 8-0 on Saturday, Feb. 11.
