Preview: Women’s swim at FIU

After dominating their cross-state rival, University of Miami, in their own pools, the FGCU women’s swim team will face another cross-state foe. This weekend the Eagles will meet against the FIU Panthers.  The last time the Eagles and Panthers swam in the same pool, the Eagles stood their ground and used the home-pool advantage to come out victorious with the final score of 141 to 64. Filmed and edited by Faith Marrero. The FGCU women’s swim team defeated in-state rival Miami in a dual-meet score of 183-117 Saturday, Jan. 21 at the FGCU Aquatics Complex. The victory over Miami was the Eagles’ 10th dual-meet win of the season, bringing their dual-meet record to 10-3. The FGCU swimming and diving team are set to host Miami Saturday, Jan. 21 at the FGCU Aquatics Complex. The Eagles have won each of their last four dual meets and will look to keep their momentum rolling as they near the end of the season. With an unfavorable forecast, the Eagles still managed to overcome the conditions and the delay, defeating CCSA-rival Liberty, 137-125, Saturday at the FGCU Aquatics Center. Leter named Suriname’s Swimming Sportswoman of the Year

FGCU senior swimmer Evita Leter has been named Suriname’s Swimming Sportswoman of the Year, announced earlier in the week by the Association of Sports Journalists in Suriname. After being named the top female swimmer in her country, Leter had the opportunity to represent Suriname in the 2016 Rio Olympics. Diving team competes in first individual meet of the season

The FGCU swimming and diving team defeated two of its three opponents at the FGCU Quad Meet that took place Nov 4 and 5 at the FGCU Aquatics Complex. The FGCU women’s swimming and diving team hosts the FGCU quad-meet from Friday, Nov. 4 through Saturday, Nov. 5 at the FGCU Aquatics Center. Teijonsalo heads to FINA World Championships in December

Sophomore, Fanny Teijonsalo, from the FGCU swimming & diving team, has been selected to represent Finland in the 2016 FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) held at the WFCU Arena in Ontario, Canada, from Dec. 6 through 11.
