Police Beat (10/27/2015 – 11/02/2015)

10/27/2015, 12:27 p.m.
Two men’s basketball players went to UPD and said they had been advised by their coach to report a suspicious incident. The students were standing in a North Lake Village parking lot at 3 a.m. and saw a black Honda pull into the parking lot. They reported that an unknown black male about 6’3” got out of the back of the car with a baseball bat in his hands and began yelling intelligibly. At this point, both students ran away from the location, and saw the person get back into the car.
10/29/2015, 2:21 p.m.
A complainant couldn’t find her vehicle in Garage 2. UPD discovered it had been repossessed by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
10/29/2015, 4:43 p.m.
A complainant called UPD to report someone had called her in reference to the St. Baldrick’s Day event. She reported the caller had “warned her” about the organization, and said, “You don’t understand, you are not having this event.” Detective Anderson met with the complainant and determined that no viable threat had been made. The caller had an Ohio area code.
10/29/2015, 4:45 p.m.
A complainant reported that there were people behind West Lake Village four- wheeling with what they thought was a dirt bike, an ATV or a golf cart. When UPD arrived, no such vehicle was found.
10/30/2015, 2:33 p.m.
A South Village desk assistant reported that two individuals were standing in a parking lot smoking marijuana. UPD contacted both individuals. The first one denied smoking, but the second one admitted to it. The officer searched them for marijuana but did not discover anything. He warned them about the consequences of smoking illegal substances.

10/30/2015, 4:56 p.m
Emergency Medical Services and UPD were called to Alico Arena to transport a basketball player with body cramps. The student athlete was transported to North Collier Hospital.
10/31/2015, 1:30 a.m.
An 18-year-old female fell in Eagle Hall and suffered a minor head injury. UPD was notified of the injury when somebody pressed a Code Blue Emergency Pole. The victim refused transport to the hospital and was given gauze for her head.
11/02/2015, 12:46 a.m.
A complainant called UPD stating her phone and wallet were stolen while she was off campus. UPD advised her to contact Lee County Sheriff’s Office because the incident happened off campus. The complainant said she had already called LCSO and they had referred her to UPD because she lives on campus. UPD forwarded the case to LCSO.
11/02/2015, 2:04 p.m.
A UPD officer was requested to stand by for a room search in North Lake Village Building Q. The resident of the room that was searched was arrested for possession of more than 20 grams of marijuana. The student was arrested and taken to Lee County Jail.
