Police Beat: Week of Feb. 25, 2015

2/11/2015 9:33 p.m.

An individual called UPD from Gulf Coast Town Center complaining he was being followed by another vehicle. The complainant was being followed because he cut the other driver off at an intersection in North Fort Myers. Both vehicles came on campus to discuss and resolve the incident with a UPD officer and Florida Highway Patrol.

2/11/2015 10:41 p.m.

There was a traffic crash between a vehicle and a pedestrian in Garage B in South Village. The pedestrian had a bruised shoulder but refused medical transport.

2/12/2015 2:16 a.m.

A subject reported a small brush fire behind West Lake Village along the dirt roadway near the access point across from Pompano building. San Carlos Fire put the fire out and advised the fire was started earlier in the evening as a small bonfire.

2/12/2015 2:32 p.m.

A vehicle was searched in Garage B at South Village. The driver was borrowing a friend’s car. 9.1 grams of marijuana and a digital scale were found inside the car. The driver and passengers stated they did not know who owned the paraphernalia. UPD officers will follow up with the owner of the vehicle.

2/13/2015 10:47 p.m.

The mother of a female subject called UPD to report concern for her daughter. Her daughter was staying with her boyfriend but they got into a fight and her daughter was supposed to be leaving and heading home but the mother hadn’t been able to contact her. The vehicle of the female subject was found in front of Biscayne Hall where her boyfriend lives. She was asked to leave the property.

2/14/2015 3:09 a.m.

A vehicle was searched due to the smell of marijuana in front of Palmetto Hall. The suspect passenger was issued a Notice To Appear ticket for the possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The passenger will also be reported to judicial for possession of a grinder with trace amounts of marijuana.
