A UPD officer removed a bird that was flying inside Sugden Hall. The officer took the bird outside.
02/09/2016, 6:53 a.m.
A UPD officer spotted an unoccupied vehicle at the end of the road at the Innovation Hub. The vehicle belonged to a company called Passarella & Associates. The officer tried to contact the company but was unable to do so. The officer then returned at 8:02 a.m. to see if the vehicle was still there, and it was. However, the owners were there too, and they said they were in the woods counting fox squirrels.
02/11/2016, 12:34 a.m.
A UPD officer stopped a car on the FGCU Boulevard since it didn’t have a headlight. The officer then moved the car to Parking Lot 1 near Lutgert Hall and performed a Field Sobriety Test. Since the BAC reading was 0.173, the female driver was issued a DUI and taken to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office jail.
02/11/2016, 11:00 a.m.
A complainant called UPD to report an old man who was walking through the nature trail behind Recreation Field 1 with a dog. The complainant said the man looked out of place. A UPD officer got to the scene and found that the suspicious person was already leaving, so the officer advised that no pets were allowed on campus.
02/11/2016, 5:16 p.m.
Wells Fargo called UPD to say they had lost power to the ATM on campus, and it had been malfunctioning for the past two days. The UPD officer unplugged the ATM, but an alarm was still going off.

A complainant stated that his or her underwear had been stolen out of a dryer in Laundry Room 2 in North Lake Village. The victim completed a theft report and reported 10 pairs of underwear missing, valued at $115.
02/12/2016, 9:29 p.m.
A USSI worker came into UPD with a photo of a door on a cellphone and stated that he or she believed the door handle of room 224 in Marieb Hall had been vandalized. A UPD officer checked the door and sent an email to work management to ask them to fix the handle.
02/13/2016, 2:41 a.m.
A UPD officer was on foot patrol, patrolling the South Village Auxiliary Parking Lot when he spotted a vehicle driving into the woods. The officer made contact with the driver, who appeared intoxicated and drove off the roadway. The passenger was sent back to her room. The officer told the driver that he needed to extract the vehicle from the woods. Reds Towing was contacted and the car was towed. The male driver was taken to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office jail and issued a DUI.
02/14/2016, 11:16 p.m.
A complainant called UPD and stated that there was a female and a male near Tarpon Building in West Lake Village fighting in the parking lot. The complainant said the subjects had been out there for 20 minutes, and they were getting louder. The UPD officer arrived at the scene and found out the female had been the instigator. The male said that the female had had too much to drink and was upset because the male wanted to leave. It appeared that the female wanted to be romantic with the male, but he refused. The female was offered medical attention, but she refused it and decided to go home. The officer escorted her to her dorm room and told her roommate to keep a watchful eye on her. The male left with a friend and said he didn’t want to press charges.
