Alec Prorock, a senior music major at FGCU, will release his first solo album, “Cloud Chameleon,” on Sunday, Feb. 14.
“Cloud Chameleon” has been a work in progress for a nearly a year and a half before being finished this semester, Prorock said. The album features instruments and vocals all performed by Prorock.
Prorock transferred back to FGCU and the Bower School of Music last semester after studying jazz at UCF and being a member of the band Polyenso.
“I’m very happy to be back here, and I feel very fulfilled,” Prorock said. “I’ve been to other music schools, and I came back here to Bower and FGCU just because it felt like home.”
Prorock hopes that his music will make people feel good and happy. However, his main goal, he said, was to blend some of his favorite music genres together.
“I listen to a vast array of music, you know, like hip-hop and jazz and classical and electronic,” Prorock said. “My real goal was really to blend those together. I’m very passionate about jazz. I play a lot of jazz, and yet, it’s not really popular with young people. And, I know that electronic and hip-hop kind of are. So, my real goal was to kind of blend those together so that people could really appreciate how complex and beautiful music can get.”
“Cloud Chameleon” will be available on iTunes and other music platforms Sunday, Feb. 14.
