FGCU swimming and diving is set to compete in its seventh CCSA championship from Wednesday, Feb. 17 to Friday Feb. 19. Prior to arriving in Athens, Georgia, 26 of the team’s athletes have already earned titles as All-Academic Honorees.
To earn this title, athletes have maintained a 3.0 GPA throughout the 2015-16 academic year.
“I’m very proud of the girls, as they continue to excel both in the poll and in the classroom,” Head Coach Neal Studd told FGCU Athletics. “The girls take pride in their work ethic in both aspects of their lives, and it continues to show year in and year out.”Screen Shot 2016-02-16 at 4.51.18 PM
The team has been just as successful in the pool as out. The team went 12-1 in dual-meets in the 2015-16 season. The team topped the Mid-Major polls for five-straight weeks to begin the season.
“I’m really proud of what they did,” Studd said. “I think we are at the point now where we are being taken seriously.
