Two more candidates have withdrawn their applications from further consideration in FGCU’s presidential search.
Donna Henry and Karen Whitney, who made it to the last round of elimination during the Presidential Search Advisory Committee’s second day of interviewing, withdrew their applications on Monday, Nov. 21, according to an email sent to students, faculty and staff by committee chair Ken Smith.
Henry and Whitney were chosen alongside Daniel Heimmermann and Ken Harmon as the most qualified candidates out of the eight that were interviewed over the course of Thursday, Nov. 17 and Friday, Nov. 18. However, the committee decided to move Heimmermann and Harmon forward to the Board of Trustees, despite needing three candidates as stated in the Board of Governors regulations.
“The status of the search remains as indicated to you in Friday evening’s email,” Smith said in the email.
BOT Chair Dudley Goodlette will discuss the committee’s decision with the BOG to find out of the last minute withdrawal of Virginia Hardy on Wednesday, Nov. 16 and Roderick McDavis on Friday, Nov. 18 count as “exceptional circumstances” that will allow the BOG to accept Heimmermann and Harmon as the candidates that the BOT will review.
