Programming Board (PB) hosted one of their first kick-off events of the semester on Friday, Sept. 6 in the Cohen Center Ballroom at 9 p.m.
Gaming With PB is a collaboration with FGCU’s Gaming Hub and offered electronic video games, board/card games and virtual reality racing to students.
“I wanted to work with Gaming Hub because this event would allow us to get the population of students that would enjoy this event,” Director of Late Night, Kaydance Owens said. “[PB] consulted Gaming Hub on what gaming systems to bring. We both agreed that the [Nintendo] Switch and Smash Bros was the most popular choice.”
PB  also hosted this event last year, but Owens decided to add the Virtual Reality station to add some variety for participants.
Twister, Apples to Apples, and Hedbanz were some of the non-electronic games available for students to play.
“In the beginning of the semester, students are almost always more interested in getting involved and finding new groups,” said Gaming Hub President Fedjine “Faye” Constant. “In the past, we did this event and it was a success. It seemed to have grown a lot, and people always enjoy it.”
There was a raffle giving away a Wii console and Just Dance 2 that took place, and every student who swiped their ID for entry was eligible to win.
Free pizza, beverages, and chips were available for attendees which attracted a crowd to the ballroom.
“I showed up to the event with a few friends because we wanted something fun to do on our Friday night,” freshman, Brandon Kelly said. “The games PB had were entertaining and helped take some stress off from the first few weeks of classes.”
Programming Board aims to provide entertainment for student life on and off-campus. The return of Gaming With PB has consecutively been an early semester event with back to back success.
