UPD was called to Alico Arena after a woman reported her husband, who had dementia, was missing on Saturday, Feb. 29. Officers canvased the area and were able to locate the man and reunite him with his wife.
Reports of marijuana came in from a vehicle West Lake Village on Sunday, March 1. Officers searched the area near the vehicle, but nothing suspicious was found.
A report was filed on Monday, March 3 about a man who refused to leave a student’s dorm. Officers responded to find the suspect had left campus in an Uber. Later that day, the student claimed the suspect kept trying to make contact with her. UPD advised her to block the suspect and notify them if he attempts to return to campus.
UPD was informed on Monday, March 3 of Jehovah Witnesses knocking on doors in West Lake Village. Officers found the two subjects and notified them of the university’s housing policies.
A man was reported to be fishing behind the Veteran’s Memorial Pavilion on Wednesday, March 5. Officers responded, and found he wasn’t a student; he was given a verbal warning.
A student reported that someone broke into her vehicle with a pair of scissors on Friday, March 7 in Garage B. Cameras were reviewed, and officers were able to trace the subject to Osprey Hall. The scissors have been placed into evidence and sworn statements and a prosecution declaration was completed. Nothing was reported missing from the car, and we are unaware of a possible suspect or any pending charges at this time.
UPD received a report of a suspicious vehicle on Ben Hill Griffin Parkway on Sunday, March 9. The complainant expressed concern that someone might get hurt. An officer canvased the area and was unable to locate the vehicle.
