The Florida Gulf Coast University womens soccer team head coach Jim Blankenship named Ben Boehner as the new program’s assistant coach Tuesday afternoon.
Boehner worked two seasons at the University of Missouri as a volunteer assistant coach, where he acted as the team’s director of performance analysis. During his time at Mizzou, Boehner helped with the transition into the Southeastern Conference and was involved in implementing training sessions and scheduling.
Prior to Mizzou, Boehner spent two years at Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Mo., where he helped the Vikings post back-to-back winning seasons and an overall record of 18-13-6 in the powerful Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC).
Boehner played collegiate soccer at Columbia College as a four-year starter. Through his four years, the Cougars posted a mark of 56-25-2 and an American Midwest Conference record of 23-3-1.
The Eagles come off of their fourth-consecutive Atlantic Sun regular season conference title and an overall 13-3-4 record. The Eagles ended their season falling to Jacksonville during the A-Sun championship final in a game that came down to penalty kicks.
