Starting today, the University Recreation department and the Prevention and Wellness department will be merging to form University Recreation and Wellness.

Tammy McCaslin, director of Student Success and Enrollment Management, announced this merge on behalf of Dr. Mitch Cordova, vice president of SSEM. Eagle News contacted Cordova to see why this merge happened but didn’t receive a response.

“Through this organizational change, the programming and service capabilities offered by both areas will be maximized and optimized so that we can best support and enhance the overall health and well-being of our students,” read the email.

University Recreation and Wellness will be led by Senior Director Suzanne Ries.

“Staff from both departments will continue to maintain their current contact information and remain in their respective locations at this time,” read the end of the email. “We are very excited about this change and look forward to providing a more robust health [and] wellness environment for our students to thrive at FGCU!!”
