Just across the street from Coconut Point Mall, Union Coffee is serving more than just coffee; it’s serving as a space for the community.
Housed within Ocean Church, Union Coffee opened in February and offers locally-roasted beans, a rotating menu of pastries from nearby bakeries and handcrafted coffee syrups made by Pink House Alchemy, using only organic, clean ingredients.
Although located inside a church, Union Coffee is open to everyone. In a community with few spots to gather, study or hold meetings beyond chain coffee shops, Union Coffee is a much-needed addition to Estero, Florida. The goal is to provide a welcoming, comfortable environment for locals and visitors to enjoy high-quality coffee and make meaningful connections.
The heart of union comes from the word “communion,” which at its core means unity. Katia Bogun, a shift lead, shared the Union’s commitment to excellence.
Bogun said, “We don’t want to be known as the church café that serves mediocre coffee. No, our beans are from Take Two, they’re local. Which is a huge thing. We don’t want to use big companies, we want to be local.”
Brandon Oaks, Co-Owner of Tranquil Coffee Roasters, spoke to the quality of Union. Oaks said, “Union has the best quality coffee in Estero, Florida, by far.”
Oaks is passionate about supporting local businesses instead of large corporations.
Walking into Union, you’ll be met with a warm environment full of smiling faces. Union can seat over 40 people, creating space for quiet moments, work and even laughter. Currently operating with a staff of four, the team is dedicated to creating a high-quality experience for every customer and you’ll quickly feel like a regular.
Union is currently open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. and on Sunday from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. They are hoping to expand their hours soon with sights set on Saturday mornings. With the long-term goal being a six-day schedule, they’re hoping to hire and train more shift leads.
