Holiday Inn Fort Myers Airport at Town Center is hosting its seventh annual Holiday Bear Hug event to benefit young patients at the Golisano Children’s Hospital of SWFL.
“We have done (the event) every year since the hotel opened,” said Krissy Frank, the executive assistant at the Holiday Inn. “This is my favorite event. Each and every one of the stuffed animals that we receive are so unique and special, and I love to imagine the kids choosing the one that they will love.”
The event will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, with special celebrity guest judges, including Michele King and Mia Dibagno from the Golisano Children’s Hospital, FGCU’s own Dr. Upchurch and Stephanie Susskind from WINK News.
Bring your own fluffy friend or create one at Build-A-Bear Workshop at Coconut Point Mall and receive a 10 percent discount on your holiday bear creation. Awards will be given for most original, most huggable and most inspiring bio.
Complimentary hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar will be available. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Lee Memorial Foundation.
Last year, the hotel received 92 bears, and the goal this year is to hit 100.
“We are getting close and have one day left, so any donations would be greatly appreciated,” said Frank.
If unable to attend, the Holiday Inn is accepting bears to be shipped directly to the hotel from online orders.
