Efron gets ‘Awkward’ in new comedy

Tom Gormican directs a romantic comedy starring Zac Efron (Jason), Miles Teller (Daniel), and Michael B. Jordan (Mikey) as three best friends who fi nd themselves at an uncomfortable point in a dating relationship when it’s time to answer the “So… where is this going?” question.
To avoid this question, the guys made a pledge to stay single. Sooner than later, they end up being in the relationships they swore not to be in, causing the friends to hide and lie about their whereabouts.
Jason is a bachelor who has a roster of females for his entertainment that he draws and discards as he pleases, until he meets a girl and falls in love. Daniel begins playing the bachelor game, until he falls for his closest girl friend who happens to be his wingman. Mikey’s marriage falls apart. After trying to restore his marriage he decides to take a new road to happiness.
“That Awkward Moment” did not give its audience anything that we already haven’t seen before, but it did provide a relatable bromance to its male audience. It shows some of the “games” some guys can plan on girls, but also shows that men do try to patch up a relationship with their significant other.
This movie doesn’t respond to anything more than the physical part of a relationship. Perhaps, if Gormican responded more to the serious emotional part, it would have been a bigger hit, besides getting to see Zac Efron shirtless.
