Five political shows to watch during the election

Let’s be honest, the elections this year has been anything but predictable. With Donald Trump as the frontrunner of the Republican Party and Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders being neck-an-neck for most of the race, it’s stressful to think about. Basically, by the time the 137th debate rolls around, you will be begging for something else to watch. Let’s take a break from our government and start learning about some fictitious ones.

Below I complied a list of political shows that can be found on Netflix:

“House of Cards”

unnamed

With only a little more backstabbing then real politics, “House of Cards” gives us a dark look into the lives of the most powerful people in the nation and the lengths to which they’ll go in order to rise in power. If you have a taste for betrayal then this is the show for you.

“The West Wing”

unnamed-1

The show is full of “walk and talks,” as the members of the administration try to solve real-world issues. “The West Wing” chronicles how president Josiah Bartlet and his staff handle one obstacle after another. Watch if you love amazing actors like Allison Janney and Chris Lowe dominate the White House.

“Parks and Recreation”

unnamed-2

Well, its not big town government but small town is just as important. Watch Leslie Knope’s (played by Amy Poehler) enthusiasm for Pawnee, Indiana make her work incredibly hard to make her town the best it can be, which often come to pass in spite of her fellow employees at the Parks and Recreation department. If you’re tired of some cynicism and want to see someone who loves his or her job in government, then this is the show for you.

“Scandal”

unnamed-3

Olivia Pope (played by Kerry Washington) is a mastor of controlling images of political power players, but finds herself into situations that are, lack of a better word, scandalous. In this show, the politics take a backseat to all the complex characters dealing with heightened situations.

“The Honorable Woman”

unnamed-4

The Stein family is major players in the Middle Eastern commerce and politics. They are attempting to get their business and technology connections in the service of peace in the region. Of course, things get complicated when the son of their family housekeeper gets kidnapped. If interested in the relationship between business, humanitarianism, and politics then this show is for you.
