Programming Board is full of zombies

Missed Zombicon this weekend? Don’t fret, because Programming Board is bringing undead action to campus. The second annual Zombiefest will hosted in the Cohen Center Ballroom on October 28, just in time for Halloween. Headed up by the director of late night, Morgan Sarro, the event is part of an initiative to offer on-campus entertainment, to stop college students from going and doing something stupid.
“Basically, what I get to do is put on a bunch of late-night events to keep people on campus instead of going out doing other things that could be bad,” Sarro said.
But why did Sarro decide to resurrect Zombiefest, instead of a brand new event?
“It was this big thing, but they just put a bunch of Halloween things together, and called it ‘Zombiefest,” she explained. “This year, I’m hoping to make it more focused on zombies.”
This year, students can expect zombie survival laser tag, an undead-infested haunted house, and more that Sarro won’t say.
“There are other rooms, so I’m going to leave it up to them to come to the event and see what are in [those],” she teased.
Even students that went last year are in for something different. Aside from a more zombie-centric focus, the new ballroom locale offers far more space for guests to shamble around.
“Last year, it was supposed to be out on the library lawn, but literally last minute, we had to move everything upstairs, [the PB offices], because it poured rain. So, it was very nerve-wracking, we were worried it wasn’t going to work, and then we had this huge turn out. It was 300-something people, and it was insane,” Sarro explained.
“It was so packed in the hallways. This year, I expanded the area. And now we have the ballroom, so the flow will be a lot easier to manage. So if anyone that came last year had a tough time getting through [it shouldn’t be an issue].”
All that said, they’re expecting an even bigger turn out for this year.
“Hopefully, we’re hosting around 400, 500, people.”
Students better get there early, if they want to brave the hordes.
