The beginning of every school year marks a new opportunity for student athletes to set remarkable new records that make FGCU history.

For the sixth consecutive year in a row, fans are eager to participate in Eagle Revolution, with an estimated 2,300 Dirty Birds already signed up.

Past and present, Eagles know that the best way to kick off the season is a gathering at “The Nest” to fire up the crowd.

But, what is there to be pumped for? How about the nine regular and post season conference championships that the Eagles brought home last season alone? Or, the fact that in just its ninth year as a Division-I member in 2015-2016, FGCU has won a combined 45 regular or postseason Conference titles as a member of the Atlantic Sun and Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association and has made an incredible 20 NCAA Championship appearances?

Eagle Revolution is the perfect event to jump start the upcoming season and is a chance for student athletes, the Dirty Birds and the student body to come together to celebrate tradition, program successes and dominance of the A-Sun Conference and CCSA at this high-spirited, welcome-back event.

FGCU student Patrick Murphy says that he will be attending Eagle Revolution this year and is excited about the event.

“My friends and I dress up in green and blue and attend Eagle Revolution every year to support our school, win prizes, eat food and have a good time being an Eagle,” Murphy said.

FGCU students have the opportunity to enter raffles with a current student ID for a chance to win incredible prizes, including TV, iPad mini, GoPro Hero, Beats by Dre, Busch Gardens one-day passes, gift certificates and gift cards. There is even a grand prize: a custom Dunk City Ford F-150, which will go to the student who makes a half-court shot.

If the winner prefers, the $38,000 is available through tuition or cash.

Free food will be provided to students, catered by local favorites such as Moe’s, Pita Pit, Tropical Smoothie, Stevie Tomato’s, Jet’s, Jason’s Deli and Applebee’s.

Eagle Revolution will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 19 at Alico Arena, with a VIP Dirty Bird event starting at 5 p.m. and doors opening to everyone at 6:30 p.m.
