A faculty member at the Bower School of Music & the Arts tested positive for COVD-19 on Thursday, an email to the FGCU student body announces.
The faculty member, who is not named, was last on FGCU’s campus on March 20, or 21 days ago according to the email.
This marks the second confirmed COVID-19 case in the FGCU community, and it comes just hours after the first.
It was announced Thursday morning that an FGCU student living in West Lake Village student housing tested positive for the virus.
The employee is being isolated in accordance with the guidelines provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the university said.
Any member of the FGCU community believed to have been at risk of exposure will be asked to self-quarantine.
The Florida Department of Health will begin to conduct its contact tracing process to determine who may have come into contact with the COVID-19 positive student, according to the statement.
At this time no further information is known regarding the case.
