Florida Gulf Coast University President, Wilson Bradshaw, received glowing reviews during his 2012-13-performance evaluation, Tuesday morning. The Board of Trustees members gathered in the Cohen Center to share their praises of Bradshaw and reward him for his stellar accomplishments.
Bradshaw began his evaluation by noting some of the achievements from the 2012-2013 school year. This includes accreditation and/or reconfirmation of the Lutgert School of Business, the College of Education, the resort and hospitality program, the physical therapy program, athletics, and anesthesiology program.
He said that while he had hoped the Bower School of Music would be accredited along with the six others, the certification is still pending.
Bradshaw also said he had accomplished his goal of a 76 percent retention rate among FGCU students and an average GPA of 3.3 among student athletes.
Once the review of Bradshaw began, not one negative comment was spoken.
Upon review by the Board of Governors, FGCU was told there were “no areas of concern,” regarding Bradshaw’s evaluation, chairwoman Robbie Roepstroff told the Board of Trustees.
Roepstroff quoted the Board of Governors as calling Bradshaw a “solid and effective president for FGCU,” as well as the Board of Governors saying Bradshaw is “the right person for president of FGCU.”
When it was their turn to comment, Members of the Board of Trustee had nothing but praise for Bradshaw.
Trustee Joe Catti told the board Bradshaw was doing a “phenomenal job.” Student Body President, Juan Cubillo added President Bradshaw’s greatness as a leader is shown in his “accessibility to students.”
In light of these achievements, Bradshaw was awarded a 5 percent base pay increase to his salary, as well as an $80,000 bonus – an incentive he has previously turned down.
After accepting this reward, Bradshaw thanked the board for their warm words and the meeting was adjourned.
