FGCU welcomes Alpha Chi Omega to campus

FGCU is proud to welcome a new sorority chapter to its campus. Alpha Chi Omega began colonizing this fall, creating many exciting opportunities for women who want to join a sorority with a rich history.
Founded in 1885 at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, Alpha Chi Omega’s brand is “Real. Strong. Women.” There are now nine chapters around Florida and 138 collegiate chapters nationwide.
Alpha Chi Omega alumnae were selected by the Alpha Chi Omega headquarters to interview women about joining. The sorority is hoping to get 200 women and have about 170 waiting to be interviewed at the moment.
“We are so excited at the number of women who are interested!” said Lindsey Daugherty, Alpha Chi Omega’s resident consultant.
The Alpha Chi Omega philanthropy has been domestic violence awareness since 1992.
“This issue is one we stand behind because it affects women all over the world,” Daugherty said, “Together we work to fight against unhealthy relationships and build healthy relationships.”
Members of Alpha Chi Omega help families and individuals impacted from domestic violence through volunteer hours at local shelters and fundraising. October will be a very busy month for the sorority because it is Domestic Violence Awareness month.
Any woman who is interested in joining Alpha Chi Omega can sign up for an interview at joinalphachiomega.com. There will also be two recruitment events in the Cohen Center ballroom Sept. 1 and 10. Interviews will begin Sept. 8, and Bid Day begins Sept. 12.
