FGCU Multicultural and Leadership ambassadors recently hosted Frosh Mosh, an on-campus retreat for incoming students. This retreat gave incoming students a look at FGCU’s campus and the opportunity to get involved in campus community through team building exercises, icebreakers, student-led discussions and workshops.

FGCU’s Multicultural and Leadership ambassadors have been leading Frosh Mosh since 2010. There are many students who apply each year, sometimes up to 90, and only 40 to 45 are accepted.

This past year there were 42 new students involved. Frosh Mosh is once a year and for incoming students (first year or transfer). The Frosh Mosh application is accessible through FGCU’s website or the FGCU Multicultural and Leadership Ambassador’s Facebook page. There are many other ways students can be involved in FGCU’s Multicultural and Leadership Development.

Emerging Eagles is a club for incoming and transfer students that is held once a week and helps students engage in team building exercises to help them learn more about themselves and the community. This fall semester, Emerging Eagles will be held once a week from 6-8 p.m. on Mondays.

“If there is a scheduling conflict with classes or anything else, students can always join Emerging Eagles in the spring semester,” said Ishbel Correa from Multicultural and Leadership Development. Aside from Emerging Eagles and Frosh Mosh, there are plenty of other ways students can be involved in Multicultural and Leadership Development.

Students are always welcome to volunteer and there are many different cultural events, such as a celebration for Chinese New Year, that are put on through out the school year. All events are posted on the Multicultural and Leadership Development Facebook page.

Frosh Mosh was a huge success and there are only more good things to come from FGCU’s Multicultural and Leadership development.
