Hurricane Matthew advisory sent to students, faculty and staff

UPD Chief Steven Moore sent an email to all students, faculty and staff regarding Hurricane Matthew on Tuesday, Oct. 4.
In the email, Moore said that normal class and business operations will occur on campus at this time.
According to the email, FGCU is expected to have winds reach about 30 mph on Thursday, Oct. 6.
“We will continue to monitor the progress of Matthew,” Moore said in the email. “We should have better information on Wednesday morning concerning our Thursday weather.”
Attached to the email is an Emergency Management Advisory, detailing information about the storm and its future path.
According to the attached document, FGCU will be on the “dry side” of the storm; however, a few rainstorms are possible.
The Category 4 hurricane hit Haiti’s southwestern coast on Tuesday and has killed at least seven people in the Caribbean, according to the Associated Press.
According to the Emergency Management Advisory, students, faculty and staff are recommended to review safety plans, monitor local media for information on the storm and sign up for FGCU Alerts.
Moore will send an updated advisory to students, faculty and staff on Wednesday, Oct. 5 “unless changes in the forecast necessitate an earlier message.”
