Police Beat (09.17.15 – 09.20.15)

9/17/2015, 7:53 a.m.
There was a four-vehicle car crash on Ben Hill Griffin Parkway at the entrance to Miromar Lakes. One involved person reported having back pain, and Emergency Medical Services arrived to treat that person. A UPD officer went to the scene to help Lee County Sheriff’s Office direct traffic.

9/17/2015, 2:22 p.m.

A complainant called UPD to report that his vehicle was hit while parked in Garage Four. UPD contacted the owner of the vehicle that hit the complainant’s vehicle, and the owner went to UPD to speak with an officer. UPD wrote a report about the incident.

9/17/2015, 6:03 p.m.

The rugby coach and players were using Garage Two for practice. An officer advised them to practice outside of the parking garage.

9/17/2015, 6:29 p.m.

Lee County Sheriff’s Office received an anonymous report of a reckless driver on Ben Hill Griffin Parkway in a burgundy Acura. The complainant reported seeing the driver commit several traffic violations and at one point the driver got out of the vehicle, took a picture of another car, and flipped the other driver off. The reckless driver, a white male, was last seen turning into FGCU’s main campus entrance. UPD was unable to locate the driver.

9/17/2015, 7:16 p.m.

A complainant reported three or four females on the third floor of Garage Two pouring a liquid, maybe water, onto passersby. The officer was advised that the females had left the area.

9/18/2015, 8:39 a.m.

A female fell and hit her head in the library. EMS and a UPD officer arrived on the scene. The female had suffered from low blood sugar and fainted. She began to feel better, and was not transported to the hospital.

9/18/2015, 11:31 a.m.

A complainant left her bike at a bike rack outside of the music building the night of Sept. 17, and it was missing when she returned the next morning. She did not have a serial number for her bike, but reported it was valued at $150.

9/18/2015, 3:37 p.m.

A complainant reported somebody keyed his car while it was parked on the fifth floor of Garage B in South Village. The garage camera footage did not show anyone damaging the vehicle. The scratch went from the front driver side fender to the rear driver side fender, and the approximate cost of the damage is $500.

9/20/2015, 2:45 a.m.

Two officers discovered four minors in possession of two bottles of vodka, eight miniature bottles of vodka and a bottle of wine. The case was turned over to campus judicial, and the liquor was disposed of with officers present.
