Police Beat 10/07 – 10/10 2015

10/07/2015, 1:24 a.m.
A housing resident called UPD and stated that no parking spaces were available in West Lake Village except for the handicapped spaces. She asked if she could park in those, but UPD said they couldn’t authorize her to do so. An officer was dispatched to the scene to assist the student. The officer authorized the student to park in a space not designated as a parking space near the West Lake Village basketball courts.
10/07/2015, 11:11 a.m.
Lee Control called UPD to report the crash of a gray Corvette into a tree on the FGCU Boulevard in a parking garage. A ladder and Red’s Towing were requested, but the driver refused transport. UPD issued a citation for careless driving.
10/07/2015, 10:12 p.m.
A traffic crash between two vehicles took place in the intersection in front of Biscayne Hall in South Lake Village. UPD diverted traffic from garage B and called Lee Control for a possible hand injury. The patient refused transport because her hand was not injured; it was just itching from the airbag deployment. Red’s Towing removed the vehicles and cleaned up the scene.
10/08/2015, 6:16 p.m.
A concerned father called UPD to request a welfare check for his daughter, who he hadn’t heard from in approximately 12 days. UPD contacted campus housing and her resident assistant said she wasn’t home at the moment, but her roommate had seen in her the past hour. Her roommate said she would advise her to contact her father.
10/09/2015, 5:33 a.m.
A complainant called UPD and stated that while he was parked in parking lot A, another vehicle pulled to a stop beside the complainant’s vehicle. A male subject got out of the second vehicle wearing a mask and yelling. He then jumped on his own vehicle and then onto the hood of the complainant’s truck and caused a dent in it. The complainant waited in the lot until UPD got there to write the report. UPD contacted the male subject who confirmed that he was angry about some racial slurs being directed toward him from the complainant previously. The matter was forwarded to student affairs.
10/09/2015, 5:51 a.m.
Two females passed out in the third floor in Palmetto Hall in South Lake Village. Lee Control was notified and two medical units transported both women to Gulf Coast Hospital.
10/09/2015, 4:06 p.m.
A complainant called UPD and stated that he was being harassed and was afraid to go to his class and back to his dorm. The complainant’s resident assistant reported that he had been robbed at Alico. UPD requested the victim was moved to a different room for his safety.
10/10/2015, 1:35 a.m.
UPD noticed two subjects at the fourth floor in garage B in South Village. One of the subjects was lying on the floor and the other was standing beside the first. Both subjects had been drinking, so Lee Control was notified. Both subjects were checked by EMS and they refused transport. The second subject was advised to keep an eye on the first subject and to call UPD if assistance was needed.
