A vehicle crashed into and knocked over a handicapped parking sign in South Village Garage B. The driver said that something happened to her brakes and she could not avoid the sign. The vehicle is inoperable and will be parked in this spot for a few days. The sign has been secured in the electrical room.

A suspicious person was observed screaming obscenities into his phone outside of Everglades Hall. After questioning by officers, the individual said he was discussing the Super Bowl. He smelled like alcohol and admitted to consuming alcohol earlier in the evening. The subject was taken back to his apartment and asked to go inside for the rest of the evening.

A 19-year-old female was accused of being intoxicated and disorderly in Eagle Hall. She was transported to Gulf Coast Hospital by a medic, and was then taken to Lee County Sherriff’s Office by an officer of UPD. No charges were filed against the subject and she was left at Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

During a health and wellness room check in North Lake Village building M, housing staff found a fireworks launcher and three mortar shells. The owner destroyed the contraband items.
2/02/2015 11:30 p.m.
A complainant called UPD and advised that he struck a vehicle with his blue Mustang in South Village Garage B. The second vehicle was unoccupied at the time of the accident. The owner of vehicle two called UPD and advised he would meet with an officer outside of Eagle Hall.
2/03/2015 8:37 p.m.
A complainant requested an officer to report a lost/stolen bicycle from the rear entrance of Whitaker Hall. The complainant advised that the bike was an old red Schwinn beach cruiser, and was not locked.
2/04/2015 3 p.m.
The assistant director of housing called UPD to report that an unknown person had removed several lighted exit signs from Eagle Hall. The signs were pulled down and the wires were cut with wire cutters. A resident assistant noticed a potential suspect who was dressed in all black clothing with a Spider-Man mask.
2/05/2015 7:40 a.m.
A complainant observed that the gas valves in a room in Griffin Hall were open. UPD was notified, and evacuated the building. San Carlos Fire Department and the FGCU Physical Plant arrived. At 8:22 a.m. the building was opened back up and people were allowed back in.
2/05/2015 7:29 p.m.
A North Lake Village resident’s brother called UPD because he had not spoken with the resident in several days and was concerned. UPD made contact with the resident and she called her brother.
2/06/2015 12:17 a.m.
A complainant called UPD to state that there was a fight going on between a male and a female outside of Pelican Hall in North Lake Village. The complainant was unsure if there were injuries. UPD arrived and called a medic, who transported the male to Gulf Coast Hospital to receive treatment for cuts he had as a result of punching the mirror in his bedroom. After the male received treatment, he was charged with domestic violence battery, criminal mischief and drunk and disorderly conduct. He was taken to Lee County Jail. An officer made contact with the female victim and gave her the necessary paperwork.

The panic alarm was pulled in North Lake Village Mangrove. The resident assistant and EMS both went to the scene and discovered a resident having a seizure. The patient was transported to Health Park Hospital.
2/07/2015 2:30 p.m.
A complainant witnessed the occupant of a vehicle parked in a handicapped spot in South Village Garage B using a grinder with a green leafy substance. The vehicle was stopped on the FGCU main road. The driver admitted to having a small amount of marijuana in her car and explained that it had been left in her vehicle by someone from a party the evening before, and she had just found it when the complainant saw her handling it. There were four subjects in the vehicle that all reported the same story as the driver. While the driver was looking for her driver’s license, she picked up a wallet that contained multiple driver’s licenses, one which was a fake with the age of 21. The fake driver’s license belonged to a passenger in the car, who was issued a warning for the fake and the DL was confiscated. The driver was issued a warning for failure to display her own DL. All of the subjects are students and residents of FGCU, so the case was turned over to Student Affairs and the grinder and marijuana were confiscated.

A resident assistant received a phone call from a resident of building M in North Lake Village who said someone had broken the window of the dorm common area. The complainant said she was sleeping when she was woken up by voices and a loud crash. She lives on the second floor and was unharmed. Officers did not locate the object that broke the window or the individual(s) who broke the window.
