The Florida Everblades will host a “Pink in the Rink” night Saturday, Feb. 27 to raise money for the Guardian Ad Litem Foundation.
The GAL 20th Judicial Circuit is a non-profit agency that pairs volunteer advocates with abused or neglected children.
A portion of each ticket to the 7 p.m. game against the South Carolina Stingrays will benefit GAL.
Everblades players will also wear pink jerseys that night and will auction them off after the game to benefit local cancer charities.
GAL 20th Judicial Circuit supports children in Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Hendry and Glades counties. Its main focus is to offer advocates and financial assistance to displaced children until they can be placed in a new home.
The GAL advocates are paired with specific children and work alongside that child’s GAL attorney and case supervisor.
GAL advocates volunteer to visit an abused child at least once a month until the child is moved to a new home and work with the child’s family, teachers and caregivers to help create recommendations to the court on behalf of the child.
The Florida Everblades has been the mid-level professional hockey team of Southwest Florida since 1998.
The Everblades frequently fundraise for charities at games, including local children’s and cancer charities.
The deadline to order tickets that will benefit GAL is 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26.
