Notice to appear issued
On Monday Aug. 22 at 8:08 a.m. a UPD officer stopped a car after observing the driver throw something from the vehicle. At 8:15 a.m. the item was located and consisted of a plastic container with a green leafy substance inside. At 8:20 a.m. a search of the vehicle was conducted, and 11.6 grams of the substance was found. A citation was issued for careless driving as well as a notice to appear for possession of under 20 grams and as well as a notice to appear for paraphernalia.
Missing adult
On Sunday Aug. 21 at 3:25 p.m. a missing adult out of Lee County was reported not endangered. He was last seen four days prior by his family in Bonita Springs. He is a white 21-year-old male with blonde hair, blue eyes, wearing a white t-shirt and jeans. He is 5’5” and 125 lbs. He messaged his sister stating that he was at FGCU looking into taking classes.
Theft in Garage B
On Saturday Aug. 20 at 6:10 p.m. a complainant contacted UPD stating that items were stolen off of her vehicle. At 6:46 p.m. prosecution declaration and sworn statement forms were filled out. Both cameras located on the second floor of the garage facing the northeast side were viewed between the time periods that complainant indicated that her car was parked. On the video her car is seen coming into the garage without the antenna and her car was not damaged by anyone during the time that her car was parked. The complainant was called and was told about the findings and if she had any other information, she can contact the department.
Bobcat hit by car
On Saturday Aug. 20 at 4:41 p.m. a bobcat was hit by a car just past the FGCU South Bridge Loop. The Physical Plant was notified and was en route at 4:41 p.m. The UPD officer contacted Professor John Herman, who stated that he would contact Professor Edwin Everham to pick up the carcass. At 4:56 p.m. the Physical Plant cleaned off the roadway.
Welfare check
On Saturday Aug. 20 at 10:57 a.m. a complainant called UPD stating that his family had been unable to get ahold of his sister, requesting that someone check up on her. The family was coming to campus to visit the sister, and had attempted to make contact but didn’t get an answer. The front desk of Eagle Hall attempted to make contact with the subject, and advised UPD that the she was in her room sleeping.
Selling alcohol to minors
On Saturday Aug. 20 at 1:57 a.m. an RA in Biscayne Hall in South Village advised UPD that she caught someone trying to sell alcohol to minors outside of her building. After making contact with him, the subject ran toward the parking lot wearing a blue flannel shirt and red shorts. He’s dark skinned with black hair and about 21 years of age. UPD was unable to locate an individual matching that description.
Requested officer in North Lake Outdoor Sports Complex
On Friday Aug. 19 at 1:01 p.m. a complainant called UPD stating that there was a student refusing to take down weights that he was hanging on the pull up bars near the basketball courts at the Outdoor Sports Complex in North Lake. The subject stated that he wouldn’t do anything unless UPD made him. An officer advised him to take down the items or else he will and they will be confiscated. The subject eventually complied and removed the items from the bars.
Dating advice
On Thursday Aug. 18 at 9:46 p.m. a resident director of Palmetto Hall in South Village advised UPD that there was a woman in Palmetto requesting an officer to go speak to a man that had been making her uncomfortable, without pressing charges. The woman was actually a student who was not having an issue with anyone, instead, another student “liked” the girl and she wanted advice if she should date him. UPD was not needed and was cancelled from the call.
Disappearing car
On Thursday Aug. 18 at 1:51 p.m. a complainant called UPD stating that she had parked her car on the third floor of Garage 2 and her car was no longer where she had parked it. An officer checked other garages in an attempt to locate the vehicle. The officer then took the complainant to her car, which was located on the other side of the garage.
