FGCU fraternity Pi Kappa Phi released a statement on Nov. 19 via Instagram regarding a member who was charged with domestic violence.
Identified as John Srour, the assailant was booked at Lee County Sheriff’s Office on Nov. 18 and charged with battery. Srour was released on $5,000 bail.

According to the fraternity’s statement, Srour was involved in a domestic violence incident prior, and his membership and affiliation was immediately revoked with both the FGCU chapter and national fraternity.
“We don’t condone any of that activity,” said Hunter Pearson, the president of the FGCU Pi Kappa Phi chapter. “The second we found out, he was literally removed that morning.”
Pi Kappa Phi expressed their discontent with the incident and pledged to do their part to make campus safe and end domestic violence as a whole, as seen in their Nov. 19 Instagram post, which read, “As a group of men, we look down on anyone that would raise a hand to a woman and we consider even the thought, a disgrace to our values.”
In light of the recent events, Pi Kappa Phi members are hosting a car wash on Dec. 4 to raise money for the victim of the assault as well as setting up opportunities to make donations that would go toward Alpha Chi Omega’s philanthropy efforts toward domestic violence awareness.
“I want to make it very clear that our organization in no way condones such actions,” Pearson said.
