The FGCU women’s swimming and diving team (8-7-1) lost against Florida Atlantic University, 151-92, on Friday, and lost to the University of Miami, 160-82 on Saturday.
Dave Rollins, swimming and diving head coach, says the team had trouble dealing with the weather conditions of the meet. “We came out flat and let the elements, cold, wind and rain, get the better of us tonight,” Rollins said.
Petra Halmai finished first in the 100-yard individual medley with a time of 59.74 and in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:05.29. Elizabeth White finished first in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:24.40.
An FGCU relay team consisting of Wiktoria Czaernecka, Julia Rodriguez, Lucija Sulenta and Elizabeth Zeiger finished first in the 400-yard freestyle relay by .11 seconds.
The loss against FAU makes it the first time in 11 years FGCU has lost to FAU in swimming and diving.
Against the University of Miami, Wiktoria Czarnecka won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.95. Petra Halmai won the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:18.21.
Up next for the FGCU swimming and diving team will be its senior day-dual meet against Florida International University on Jan. 25 at the FGCU Aquatics Center.
