As one of the many clubs trying to keep some normalcy during the pandemic, Club Volleyball is doing everything they can to keep their members active.
Volleyball practices at the University Recreation and Wellness Center, and COVID has prevented their club from traveling and hosting tournaments which only leaves their club with a couple practices each week.
“We don’t have much planned due to COVID restrictions,” Club Member Kailee Rictor says. “But community service and fundraisers will hopefully be held in March or April.”
Club Volleyball competes in tournaments against other teams in the state of Florida and will sometimes travel to surrounding states like Georgia to compete in tournaments against other non Florida schools.
They have about 100 members that are in the club, but only have around 30-40 active members due to COVID.
“I’m only a sophomore, but from what i’ve heard our club has come a long way,” Rictor said. “Before last year they didn’t compete as much and now we travel to about 2-3 tournaments a semester.”
They hope things will be back to somewhat normal when Club Volleyball can return in the fall for the 2021-2022 school year to travel and compete.
