FGCU Alpha Epsilon Pi (AEII) and Chabad of FGCU collaborated to organize “Challahs for Israel,” a bake sale event on the library lawn on Monday, Oct. 16 and Tuesday, Oct. 17 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. They are selling freshly baked Challah and brownies for $5 each. All donations are going toward helping families of Israel Defense Soldiers (IDF).
FGCU Senior Nicole Leser who is a part of Chabad said that AEII and other girls from Chabad met last night to prepare for their tabling event today.
“The girls baked, and the Alpha Epsilon boys braided. They’re made with love,” Leser said.
Leser said that the girls from Chabad and boys for AEII wanted to do something to support Israel, so she reached out to Rabbi Mendel’s wife, Shternie Gordon, for a list of organizations they could support.
“From far away, we feel a little helpless, so we just wanted to get together and do something fun, yet helpful,” Leser said.
She said that she instantly knew what organization she wanted to support when she read through the email list.
“Her name is Chanifri, and she’s working independently to make care packages for mom’s and children of IDF soldiers,” she said.
Senior Max Johnson is a member of AEII, and he’s tabling today and tomorrow with Leser and his fraternity brothers.
“Epsilon Pi wants to show support for Israel by working with Chabad and running events like this to help the people over there,” Johnson said.
