As the 2024-25 NFL season is about to kick off, fans are starting to debate which team is the favorite to win Super Bowl LIX. While some pray for a miracle for their teams to reach the top, others are ready to give their best to have a chance at winning the most prestigious trophy in football, the Lombardi trophy. Here are the five teams with the best chance of winning it all.
Kansas City Chiefs (11-6 last season):
While the Kansas City Chiefs seem like the obvious choice, they are back-to-back champions. Led by Super Bowl LVIII MVP Patrick Mahomes, they look a lot scarier than last season. Any team that has a quarterback with the skill sets that Mahomes possesses always has a chance to win Super Bowl LIX.
Except, they’re the only team that has him, which makes it incredibly easy to pick them as favorites. That man can do anything, from no looking passes to unbelievable comebacks, Mahomes makes the impossible look routine.
Arguably the best tight end of all time, Travis Kelce, is coming back to partner up with Mahomes, not to mention the famously angry runs from Isiah Pacheco, the Chief’s offense is stacked with talent, which will favorably pair with their young and loaded defense that made a name for itself last season on the way to the Super Bowl.
San Francisco 49ers (12-5 last season):
Similar to the Chiefs, the San Francisco 49ers are stacked with talent at every single position. On one side, you have one of the most explosive offenses in the league starting with the 2023 NFL Offensive Player of the Year Christian McCaffrey, who is looking to keep breaking records and wreaking havoc in the league.
He is alongside players such as George Kittle, Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk and Brock Purdy who never runs out of tricks and clutch performances. If that wasn’t enough, they have what arguably is the best defense in the league, led by the powerful trio of Nick Bosa, Fred Warner and Trent Williams.
So, in all honesty, what is stopping this team from winning it all?
Head Coach Kyle Shanahan perfectly implements the west coast offense style in his already star-studded team, making the 49ers the team to beat this season.
Miami Dolphins (11-7 last season):
What can we say about their star player and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa?
One week he plays as if he were the next coming off Dan Marino and scores 70 points. Then, he goes on to the next week and gives below-average performances and plays as if he forgot the whole playbook, throwing unnecessary interceptions that have cost the Dolphins their season.
Even though Tagovailoa’s form is going to be one of the main talking points in the Dolphins this season, we can’t deny that their offense is loaded with firepower with Tyreek Hill returning for his 3rd season at South Beach alongside Jaylen Waddle and De’Von Achane.
Their defense could have room for improvement, but when you have Jalen Ramsey on your team, you can rest assured that the other team’s offense is in for a hot and long night at Hard Rock Stadium. The Dolphins have every tool they need to reach the Super Bowl LIX, the question is: can they stay consistent throughout the entire season?
Philadelphia Eagles (11-6 last season):
Who else is excited for a season full of Philly specials and what Jalen Hurts and Nick Sirianni are cooking for Eagles fans this season?
This team can pull anything off. With a strong wide receiver core fueled by A.J. Brown, Devonta Smith and the addition of Saquon Barkley, this offense is ruthless and will make the other team’s defense look like they’re stuck on a slip-and-slide.
The only issue the offense faces is the loss of the league’s best offensive lineman, Jason Kelce. It is going to be interesting how the Eagles offense is going to adapt to a new offensive line.
Need to mention, their defense is literally like an impenetrable fortress. They improved it by drafting young skillful players that are ready to go against the best offenses in the league. The city of Philadelphia is guaranteed to be in for a ride. Are we going to see the Eagles fly this season?
Detroit Lions (12-5 last season):
The Lions are going to be an absolute powerhouse this season, with Jared Goff looking finer than ever. He has great playmakers alongside him like Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jahmyr Gibbs who are just electric to watch.
This Detroit Lions team is hungry for blood and is ready to destroy everything that gets on their way to their goal. Dan Campbel is the definition of a game-changer and a true leader. He has rebuilt the Lions franchise is something to applaud and admire.
Campbell has these guys fired up and they’re not here to mess around, they’re here to dominate and go toe-to-toe with the best teams in the league.
