Shell Factory Closing Permanently
After 86 years, the iconic Shell Factory & Nature Park will close its doors permanently. Located in North Fort Myers, the attraction has entertained visitors with its expansive shop and amusement park since 1938.
According to Cape Coral Breeze, the park has hosted a seemingly endless offering of activities for families, from an amusement park and a nature park with a rehabilitation program to restaurants and shops.
The amusement park will close immediately. The rest of the property will be open to the public for one last weekend, from Sept. 27 through the 29.
The park has announced it will be selling the land.

Annual Python Hunt Winner Wrangles in $10,000
This week concluded the annual Florida Python Challenge, in which hunters took to the Everglades to catch and humanely kill invasive Burmese pythons. Ronald Kiger won the grand prize of $10,000 after removing 20 pythons.
According to Naples Daily News, the 10-day hunt was hosted to raise awareness of the ecological damage caused by Burmese pythons in the Florida Everglades and beyond. The hunt is scheduled every August during peak mating season for the pythons, which can lay 50-100 eggs per mating season.
The hunt attracted over 800 people from 33 states and Canada, and 195 pythons were removed by all hunters.

Music Artist Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Arrested on Multiple Charges
Music Mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs was arrested last Monday, Sept. 16, on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering.
According to NBC News, over the past year, Combs has faced intensifying allegations of sexual misconduct.
On March 25, his Los Angeles mansion was raided in addition to his residence in Miami.
The alleged host of several “Freak Offs,” Combs has been refused bail twice now due to him being perceived as a flight risk. Combs is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center.
Combs still needs to receive a trial date.
