As the excitement for the 2024-2025 men’s basketball season builds, FGCU eagerly anticipates the impacts of our new recruits. This year’s talent brings a mix of talent, determination and potential that is guaranteed to elevate our team to new heights.
Beyond their impressive stats and skills, each recruit has a unique background that brought them to FGCU. Who will be the breakout star of the season?
The first of the transfer students is Michael Duax, a versatile forward with a knack for shooting from all areas of the court. Duax is from Dubuque, Iowa and transferred to FGCU from the University of Northern Iowa (UNI).
During his time at UNI, Duax appeared in all 33 games, scored 126 points and averaged 3.8 points per contest with 14.1 minutes per game. His agility and shooting accuracy will make him a formidable opponent for any defense.
Transfer Zavian McLean, a graduate transfer student from Spring Lake, N.C. McLean made his way to the nest from Columbia University. He dropped a season-high 19 points his senior year, appearing and starting in all 27 games.
McLean scored double-figures in four straight games to end the season. He was second on his team and fourth in the Ivy League in field goal percentage, having a percentage of 56.6.
Rory Stewart is a power forward from London. Stewart is a transfer student from the University of Rhode Island. In his sophomore year, he played 35 games and utilized his size, strength and agility offensively which helped in rebounding and blocking shots.
The Eagles’ final transfer is Jevin Muniz out of Delaware State University. Muniz possesses the skills and attributes of both a guard and a forward. He scored 24 points in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Championship game, helping the Hornets to the title game. Muniz netted a career-high of 31 points and had eight games with 20 or more points.
Along with FGCU picking up four transfers over the offseason, they have added four freshmen to their roster.
Jack Reddick is a versatile point guard from Eddyville, Kentucky. He attended Lyon County High School and was a standout senior on the school’s basketball team.
Throughout the regular season, Reddick consistently showcased his talent on the court, averaging 15.2 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. His impressive performance consists of making 59 3-pointers.
Tristen Guillouette is a 6-foot-10 center from Willingboro, New Jersey and played his senior year at St. Joseph’s Prep in Philadelphia. Guillouette will provide strength, size and skill in the paint to impact both ends of the court.
Third on the list is a dynamic guard from Philadelphia., Darren Williams. He attended Archbishop Ryan High School. Williams scored two of his game-high 22 points with two seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. Those 22 points included a game-winner, which sent his team to the Philadelphia Catholic League Semifinals.
FGCU’s final freshman is shooting guard Jackson “BB” Washington from Houston. He attended Chaminade Julienne Catholic High School. Washington averaged 25 points in a game, which heavily contributed to their team defeating their opponents in district play.
Our men’s basketball team has received so many promising recruits. The addition of these talented recruits promises an exciting and competitive season ahead.
