Two Black Women Will Serve Simultaneously in the U.S. Senate for the First Time
Two Black women have been elected to serve simultaneously in the U.S. Senate for the first time. Maryland’s Angela Alsobrooks and Delaware’s Lisa Blunt Rochester, both Democrats, won their races to double the number of Black women elected in the Senate – from two to four.
Never in the Senate have two Black women served at the same time.

Trump Wins Presidency with Wisconsin and Pennsylvania; Harris takes New Hampshire
Throughout the early morning, Trump took Wisconsin and Pennsylvania to get to 277 electoral votes, making him the 47th President of the United States. He gained 29 electoral votes between the two states. He is the second non-consecutive president to be elected, with the first being former president Grover Cleveland, who served as the 22nd president after the 1884 election and the 24th president after the 1892 election.
Harris took New Hampshire after we concluded coverage last night. With the win, she moved to 224 electoral votes.

Trump Flips Georgia
Trump wins Georgia, holding a key swing state over Harris. This means he has 247 electoral votes. Trump also won the majority of the Electoral College votes in Nebraska.
U.S. Senate Flips Republican
Republicans have captured the U.S. Senate majority, ending their four-year stretch in the minority. Although some races are still not decided, the Republicans have gained a majority with 51 senators vs the Democrat’s 42.
Harris Wins One Electoral Vote in Both Nebraska and Maine
Harris has won one electoral vote in both Maine and Nebraska. Both of these states use a proportional method. Harris has a total of 210 electoral votes.
U.S. House Election Update
Currently, 133 Democratic seats and 176 Republican seats have been called for the U.S. House of Representatives. One seat has flipped from Democrat to Republican. More updates to follow.

Harris has won Hawaii, meaning she has 209 electoral votes.

Harris has won Virginia, meaning she now has 205 electoral votes.
Abortion Amendment Passes in Missouri
Amendment 3, Missouri’s Right to Abortion amendment, passed in the state by a 4.4% margin. This amendment reverses the state’s near-total ban on abortion, which was implemented after Roe V. Wade was overturned in 2022. Abortion could still be restricted or banned by the state after fetal viability, however.

Harris has won New Mexico, meaning she has 192 electoral votes.
Young Voters Shifting Toward Trump
According to the Associated Press, young voters have shifted toward Trump. The former president has shaped these voters’ lives, and the effect has been proven prevalent in this election. Trump is up in young demographic votes from 1/3 of votes to every 4 in 10. Only half of these voters support Harris, which is down from 6 of 10 voters who voted for Biden in 2020.
Harris Wins Oregon
Harris has won Oregon, meaning she now has 187 electoral votes.
Updates from the Harris Campaign
Harris’ campaign manager has sent emails to all staff updating them on the projections of how Harris could fare in Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin. All three of these states are leaning red, as of right now.
Pennsylvania: According to the emails, Harris has overperformed in Philadelphia and early vote expectations in Bucks County. There has been high non-white and student turnout in Philadelphia. They are expecting to have a higher turnout than the 2020 election.
Michigan: The City of Detroit will not be reported until around midnight but there has been strong turnout through early voting and Election Day.
Wisconsin: There still remains a significant amount of voting to be done in Dane and Milwaukee counties. There have also been strong performances in Waukesha, Ozaukee and Washington (WOW) counties. Complete results are expected in Wisconsin from 3 a.m. to 5 a.m.

Trump has won North Carolina, which is traditionally a swing state, meaning he now has 230 electoral votes.

Florida Amendment Updates
Florida has mostly been focused on campaigning for Amendments 3 and 4. However, there are six amendments on Florida’s ballot this election. All results have been announced.
Amendment 1, schoolboard partisan elections, has failed to pass.
Amendment 2, the right to fish and hunt, has passed.
Amendment 5, the homestead annual inflation adjustment, has passed.
Amendment 6, Florida’s amendment on public campaign financing, has failed to pass.

Trump has won three of Nebraska’s five electoral votes. Nebraska utilizes the proportional method, where multiple representatives in each district are proportionate to the number of people who vote for them. Trump currently has 178 electoral votes.
First Out Transgender Person Elected to Congress
Delaware state Sen. Sarah McBride won the state’s only House seat, making her the first openly transgender person elected to Congress. McBride, a Democrat, gained 57.6% of the vote with 63% of the vote in.
Florida’s Amendment 4 Has Failed to Pass
Amendment 4, Florida’s amendment to legalize abortion before fetal viability (23-24 weeks) with limited government interference, has failed to pass. There were 57% votes for the amendment, meaning it did not reach 60% majority to pass, and 43% votes against it.

According to the Associated Press, Florida voters have rejected Amendment 3 on the ballot. The measure would have legalized recreational marijuana for adults 21 years old or older.

Associated Press Has Called Florida
According to the Associated Press, former President Donald Trump has won Florida. He led by 11 percentage points, with 80% of the expected votes counted.
Trump has been doing better in the state than he did four years ago. He led in Miami-Dade County, winning by 55%, 9% more than he did in 2020. He won by three percentage points in the 2020 election and 2016 by a single point.

Johnson County, Iowa’s most Democratic County, is on track to shatter turnout records tonight.

Andy Kim wins in New Jersey to become the first Korean American senator.
Trump Wins Florida
When Florida polls closed at 8 p.m. Florida was called to be red. There were six counties in Florida, however, that were called to be blue. Those are Gadsden, Leon, Alachua, Orange, Palm Beach and Broward.
Florida Sen. Rick Scott Wins Reelection
Republican U.S. Sen. Rick Scott won the Senate election against former Democratic U.S. Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell. This will be his second term.
Trump Wins Six States
Trump has won Florida, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee, which account for 72 electoral votes. He now has a total of 95 votes.
Harris Wins Four States
Harris has won Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut and Maryland, giving her 35 electoral votes.
Bomb Threats Reported False in Georgia
Police in Dekalb, Georgia, have found no bombs at the five polling sites evacuated earlier this evening. According to a county spokesperson, the police have issued an all-clear. The county is now extending voting.

Swing State North Carolina Voter Update
According to the Associated Press, voters in North Carolina have made their decisions regarding presidential candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.
They prefer Harris when it comes to health care but prefer Trump’s policies on immigration.
Poll Hours Extended in Four Georgia Counties
Poll hours have been extended in Georgia counties including Cobb, Gwinnett, Glynn and Fulton.
Pennsylvania Cheating Scandal Debunked
Trump has talked about fraud in Pennsylvania, which has been debunked as false. This comes after polling machines were reported malfunctioning in Cambria County and Bedford County in Pennsylvania.
“A lot of talk about massive CHEATING in Philadelphia,” Trump wrote on Truth Social early Tuesday evening.”
Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner has denied the possibility of the polls being rigged.
“There is no factual basis whatsoever within law enforcement to support this wild allegation,” Krasner continued. “We have invited complaints and allegations of improprieties all day. If Donald J. Trump has any facts to support his wild allegations, we want them now.”
Former President Donald Trump won these counties in the 2020 election with 63% and 83%, respectively, over President Joe Biden. The Pennsylvania Department of State says it’s in contact to resolve the issues.
“The Cambria County Board of Election learned early this morning that a software malfunction in the County’s Electronic Voting System has prevented voters from scanning their ballots,” Cambria County Solicitor Ron Repak said in a statement.
This has not prevented people from voting, as they can still fill out paper ballots.
Democratic Rep. Maxwell Frost Reelected in Florida
Democratic rep. Maxwell Frost, 27, has won reelection in the 10th District of Florida. He is the first member of Generation Z to be elected to Congress.
Trump Wins West Virgina
Donald Trump has won West Virginia. He now has 23 electoral votes.
Bernie Sanders Wins Reelection in Vermont
Bernie Sanders, an Independent, wins the Vermont U.S. Senate seat. This will be his fourth term in office.
Bomb Threats Reported in Georgia
Election officials in DeKalb County, Ga., a deep-blue county east of Atlanta, say that they have received bomb threats at five voting precincts. Police have evacuated the polling sites. Some of the locations appear to include Black churches.

Voter Opinion on Key Issues
An exit poll from NBC News showed how voters ranked the most important issues. The state of the democracy was most concerned at 36% and the economy was second most important at 30%. Foreign policy was lowest in importance at 4%. In the middle of concern is abortion ranked at 14% and immigration at 11%. This news makes the election look better for Harris since she focused more on abortion while Trump focused the most on immigration.
Vermont, Indiana and Kentucky Called
Kamala Harris has won Vermont, giving her three electoral votes. Donald Trump has won Kentucky and Indiana giving him 19 electoral votes.
