FEMA Orders all Business Trailers to be removed from the Fort Myers Beach
FEMA just denied a request to extend a business trailer permit to June 1, 2025 according to WINK News. This means that the over 50 businesses that are currently operating out of small trailers must be removed by today or face penalties.
After Hurricane Ian and now Helene and Milton, many businesses that were wiped out by the storms have transitioned to working out of trailers, many of which are food service establishments.
This order comes as many residents and business owners still struggle to find the money and resources to rebuild from Hurricane Ian.
This order also comes just as Southwest Florida’s tourism season begins, which is what many of these businesses require to stay in operation.

State of Florida Sues FEMA Due to Allegations of Skipping Homes of Trump Supporters
Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody has filed a lawsuit against FEMA Administrator Deanne Chriswell and the supervisor responsible for passing by the homes of Trump supporters.
Moody claims the actions of FEMA were a violation of Floridian’s civil rights according to NPR.
“I am taking swift legal action to find out how far this political discrimination reaches and to make sure all Americans who fall victims of devastating storms are served, regardless of political affiliation.”
This isn’t the first time Floridians have sued FEMA, after Hurricane Irma, Chabad of Key West sued FEMA over discriminatory practices that denied religious institutions such as theirs from receiving emergency funds.
FEMA had no comment on the litigation.

The Onion’s Acquisition of Info Wars is Being Called Into Question by Elon Musk’s X Corp
Earlier this week, a bankruptcy auction was held to sell off assets owned by Info Wars. This comes after owner Alex Jones was sued for $1.5 billion for defamatory claims that the Sandy Hook School shooting was staged. The satirical news publication, The Onion, won the auction, but now, a Texas Judge and Elon Musk are calling the auction into question.
The judge, Christopher M. Lopez has raised concern over the transparency of the auction according to NBC.
The Onion posted on X that the claims the auction was overturned are “false” and any claims the auction will be overturned are “wacky.”
