ABC News Pays $15 Million to Settle Defamation Lawsuit with Donald Trump
The lawsuit stemmed from an incident where ABC Anchor George Stephanopoulos falsely claimed that Donald Trump had been found “liable for rape” according to the BBC.
Trump had been found guilty of sexual abuse in a civil case last year. In New York, sexual abuse has a different definition than rape. The case regarded a 1996 incident with Trump and Jean Carroll in a dressing room.
ABC also has updated the March publication of the Stephanopoulos segment with an editor’s note.
Trump plans to use the $15 million for a presidential library.
