Deputy Looking at Pornographic Material on Phone Rear-Ends Car Waiting for School Bus
A now-resigned Lake County deputy crashed his patrol car into a stationary vehicle that was waiting for a school bus. Body camera footage shows the deputy looking at pornographic material on his phone moments before the crash.
The deputy initially claimed that his brakes locked up, causing him to hit the vehicle in front, however, the camera footage showed otherwise to investigators. After this the deputy claimed he was looking at a group text he was a part of with coworkers. This was also disproven as there were no messages sent to the group text for the whole day of the accident according to the Miami Herald.
After this revelation, the deputy finally admitted to looking at porn while driving.
Investigators determined the deputy had committed three violations: departure from the truth in giving testimony or in connection with any official duties, certain use of electronic handheld devices and use of a safety belt.
