U.S. senator and Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders will host a town hall meeting with students at George Mason University Wednesday, Oct. 28. The meeting will be live streamed at college campuses across the country and through Sanders’ official website.
The Vermont senator will speak to students about important issues young people face, including college affordability, removing big money from politics, climate change, criminal justice reform and social and financial equality.
Sanders’ policies align with those who subscribe to democratic socialism. In a recent interview on NBC’s “Today,” anchor Savannah Guthrie pressed Sanders to explain socialism and said some voters “think it sounds scary.”
“I think once we get these issues out and talk about creating a government and programs that work for ordinary people rather than just the very wealthy, I think people will understand what we are talking about,” Sanders said.
The town hall meeting will start at 7 p.m.
More information on the town hall meeting can be found at Sanders’ official site.
