It seems like every night the defending NBA champion the Golden State Warriors are making history. With the best start in the history of the NBA, the Warriors are 23-0.
After defeating the Pacers last night in a 131-123 shootout, with the help of 10 three-pointers by Klay Thompson, the Warriors also hold the best road start in NBA history with a record of 13-0. The Warriors also have tied for the third longest win streak in the NBA with the 12-13 Miami Heat, with 27 consecutive wins dating back to last season.
With this astonishing start, the Golden State Warriors have the whole world buzzing. People around the globe are saying that this Warriors team can top — and is even better than — the 1995–96 Chicago Bulls that went 72-10, which is the best record in NBA history. And, who can blame them? Behind the 2015 MVP, Steph Curry, the Warriors are dominating the competition.
Steph Curry is having another MVP campaign, averaging 32.2 points, five rebounds and six assists per game. Curry is, in my opinion, the greatest player on the planet, and one of the greatest shooters of all time. The world has never seen a player like Curry, who shoots the ball behind the arc with such ease. His ability to crossover and baffle defenders is ridiculous, and it allows him to pull the trigger from anywhere on the floor.
Curry isn’t the only reason why the Warriors are 23-0. With the likes of Draymond Green, Harrison Barnes, Klay Thompson and incredible second unit, the Warriors are just an all-around, well-oiled, winning machine. The Warriors shoot the ball very well, as the team is shooting 49 percent from the field and 43 percent from the behind the arc. They have the ability to shoot the lights out every time they step foot on the floor.
So, who’s to say that the Golden State Warriors can’t top the 72-10 Bulls record? They’re six wins away from tying the longest winning streak in NBA history, and with such a strong second unit that can hold the lead the starting five builds, the Warriors have a chance, rest their star players. As long as they can stay healthy, the Golden State Warriors should have no problem breaking the Bulls’ best season record and repeating as NBA champions.
Although I do believe it is impossible to win all 82 NBA games over a grueling season, I think the Warriors can finish 77-5. The sky is the limit for the Golden State Warriors for many years to come.
