The 85th annual Academy Awards brought out glits, glamour, and a little bit of clumsiness. The late arrival of most of Hollywood’s a-list stars pushed the ceremony back a little bit, but did not rain on Seth MacFarlane’s musical filled parade.
The “Family Guy” creator started the night off with a few jokes, an appearance by William Shatner, and a song and dance performance featuring Daniel Radcliffe, Joseph Gordon- Levitt, Channing Tatum, and Charlize Theron.
Throughout the night, there were many first time winners, including Jennifer Lawrence (who still managed to look fantastic even when tripping up the stairs), Anne Hathaway, and Adele. There were also a lot of history making moments, including the first tie between “Zero Dark Thirty” and “Skyfall” for Achievement in Sound Editing, having the youngest and oldest person nominated in the same category (Emmanuelle Riva for “Amour” and Quvenzhané Wallis for “Beasts of the Southern Wild”) and the first performance by Barbara Streissand in over 30 years. “Argo” and “Life of Pi” were the nights big winners, with “Argo” scoring three awards and “‘Life of Pi” scoring four.
