The FGCU women’s swimming and diving team lost to the University of Toledo, 123-157, and beat Marshall University, 184-97, in a tri-meet Friday evening at the University of Toledo, and lost to Oakland University and Eastern Michigan University on Saturday afternoon at Eastern Michigan University.
In the meet against Toledo and Marshall, the Eagles picked up a second-place finish, in the first event of the meet, the 200-yard medley relay, behind Lucija Salenta, Petra Halmai, Cassidy Fry and Wiktoria Czarnecka.
Czarnecka also earned two first-place finishes, in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle, and a third-place finish in the 50-yard butterfly.
Halmai also picked up a first-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke and a third-place finish in the third event of the meet, the 100-yard individual medley.
Elizabeth Zeiger earned a second-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley and a third-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle.
Reese Wakefield earned a first-place finish in the three-meter diving event, and FGCU took second and third place in the one-meter diving event with Wakefield and Delaney Nelson.
Against Oakland and Eastern Michigan, Halmai picked up FGCU’s first podium finish with a second-place finish in the fifth event of the meet, the 100-yard breaststroke.
Czarnecka was the next Eagle to reach the podium with a third-place finish in the seventh event of the meet, the 50-yard freestyle.
Wakefield continued to impress in her freshman season, winning the three-meter dive with a score of 270.55.
Czarnecka reached the podium again in the 100-yard freestyle where she earned a tie for third place.
Halmai picked up a third-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke, the 11th event of the meet.
Cassidy Fry was the last swimmer to earn a top-three finish for FGCU, as she finished second in the 100-yard butterfly.
The FGCU swimming and diving team continues its road trip, this time traveling to the University of Houston to compete in the Phil Hansel Invitational from Nov. 20th to Nov. 23rd, the team’s last scheduled competition of 2019.
