1) Dunk City 2012-2013
Men’s Basketball
Class: N/A
Inducted in 2022
One of the major athletic moments that put FGCU on the map was the program’s 2012-13 NCAA Tournament run as they were the first No.15 seed to advance to the Sweet 16.
The Eagles flourished under former FGCU coach Andy Enfield’s fast-paced offense which allowed his team to obtain favorable matchups when in the paint. This kept their opponents behind as they outendured them.
The team won the 2013 ESPYs Best Upset in reference to Dunk City’s defeat of No.2 seed Georgetown and postseason run.
The reason behind the name ‘Dunk City’ is pretty straightforward. During the season, the team racked up a staggering 148 dunks over the season. The 2012-13 FGCU men’s basketball team set the gold standard for athletic excellence at FGCU and were inducted unanimously in the first year of the Hall of Fame.
