Thanksgiving 5K fun run to benefit FGCU cross country

FGCU will be hosting its fifth annual Thanksgiving Day Gobbler 5k to benefit the FGCU men’s and women’s cross country teams.

The Gobbler 5k will include a one mile Fun Run and a Tot Trot, which will all begin outside of Alico Arena.

The 5k will begin 7:30 a.m., followed by the Fun Run at 8:45 a.m. then the Tot Trot at 9 a.m.

Awards will be given to the top-10 male and female 5k finishers, and the first 600 participants will receive a t-shirt.

Runners can register to participate at TheGobbler5k.com where they can sign up for the 5k, which is $25, the Fun Run for $10 or the Tot Trot, which is free. FGCU requests that checks are made payable to FGCU Athletics / Cross Country.

This season, the FGCU women’s cross country team earned its highest ranking in program history, with a No. 12 spot in the USTFCCCA poll earlier this month. The women’s team ran a program-best 13th-place finish while the men finished 18th at the NCAA South Regional Championships on Friday, Nov. 13.
