The critics have spoken, and the awards have been handed out to the best in film and television. The stars came out in full force for the 21st annual Critics’ Choice Awards on Jan. 17. Hosted by T.J. Miller, the night was bound to be entertaining.
This year’s Critics’ Choice Awards switched it up compared to the other award shows this season. Many movies, television series, actors and actresses received awards, whereas in other award shows, they barely got any recognition.

At the end of the night, “Mad Max: Fury Road” walked away with nine awards, including Best Director and Best Action Movie. Brie Larson continued her winning streak, and her costar, Jacob Tremblay, took home the award for Best Young Actor/Actress and then proceeded to give the cutest acceptance speech I have ever heard. Even though “The Danish Girl” received a lot of love from the Academy Awards, it received only one Critics’ Choice Award for Best Supporting Actress for Alicia Vikander. Even 2015 breakout star Amy Schumer left with the Best Actress in a Comedy award for her work in “Trainwreck.”
As for television, Rachel Bloom won again for Best Actress in a Comedy Series for her work in “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.” “Fargo” was the big winner with four awards, including Best Actress in a Movie Made for Television or Limited Series and Best Movie Made for Television or Limited Series. Coming in second with the most awards was the brand new series “Mr. Robot,” which walked away with Best Actor in a Drama Series and Best Drama Series.
